At our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), all Executive and Management Committee positions will be declared vacant and open for election. This is your chance to contribute your skills, meet new people, and help shape the future of River Heads.
Executive Committee
President
Commitment: Around 4–6 hours a week
Skills/Passions: Leadership, communication, community spirit
Chairs meetings, represents the Association publicly, ensures compliance, and drives strategic planning.
Vice President
Commitment: 2–4 hours a week
Skills/Passions: Practical problem-solving, teamwork, facilities management
Supports the President, chairs meetings when required, and oversees facilities and improvements.
Secretary
Commitment: 3–5 hours a week
Skills/Passions: Organisation, writing, attention to detail
Manages correspondence, minutes, records, and liaison with the Office of Fair Trading.
Treasurer
Commitment: 3–6 hours a week (a little more during audits)
Skills/Passions: Bookkeeping, budgeting, accuracy
Oversees finances, budgets, fundraising, and ensures audited reports are prepared.
Management Committee Roles
These roles usually take 1–3 hours a week, depending on activities and events:
Registrar & Key Registrar – maintain membership and key registers (organised, good record-keeping)
Events Coordinator – plan and oversee community events (creative, people-focused)
Bistro Manager – oversee the kitchen, menu, stock, food safety, and volunteer support (hospitality, organisation)
Bar Coordinator – manage bar operations, stock, pricing, and licensing (hospitality, compliance, teamwork)
Social Media Coordinator – promote activities and events on Facebook and other platforms (communication, creativity, online engagement)
Webmaster – manage the technical side of the RHPA website and Facebook page (IT skills, attention to detail)
Review Editor – produce the monthly Review newsletter and design event posters (writing, editing, design)
Roster Coordinator – prepare volunteer rosters (organised, reliable)
Emergency Coordinator – liaise with council and lead emergency planning (preparedness, calm under pressure)
Hall Bookings Coordinator – manage hall hire and enquiries (organisation, communication)
Fishing Club Delegate – represent the Fishing Club at RHPA meetings (community connection)
Assistant Secretary/Treasurer – support executive roles as needed (flexibility, willingness to help)

Our current committee includes Keith Morrison (President), Geoff Mealing (Treasurer), Karen Hensel (Secretary), Cheryl Morrison (Registrar & Roster Coordinator), Liz Stewart (Events and Bistro), Mark Hensel (Bar, Emergency and Fishing Club Delegate), Sheree Henley (Website Content), Coral Albrecht (Social Media), and Tracey Morton (Review Editor) — along with other dedicated helpers.
They’ve worked hard to keep the Association thriving, but they warmly welcome new blood, fresh ideas, and extra hands to share the load and bring new energy into the team.

Being on the committee is rewarding, social, and a great way to use your talents to benefit the River Heads community. To nominate, you must be a financial member.
